acupuncture
Acupuncture is a centuries-old healing practice rooted in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that aims to restore balance and harmony within the body. It involves the insertion of thin, sterile needles into specific points along the body's energy channels, known as meridians, to stimulate the body’s vital energy known as Qi (pronounced as “Chee”) to promote the body's natural healing abilities.
Acupuncture is often used to address a wide range of physical, emotional, and mental health conditions, including chronic pain, stress, anxiety, insomnia, digestive disorders, and much more. It is valued for its holistic approach, treating the root cause of symptoms rather than just the symptoms themselves.
Moxabustion
Moxibustion is a therapy where a a dried herb called mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) is burned near specific points on your body. This creates a warm sensation that helps energy flow better. It's used to treat issues like pain and digestive problems by improving circulation and boosting your body's natural healing abilities.
There are two main types of moxibustion: direct and indirect. In direct moxibustion, a small cone or stick of moxa (dried mugwort) is placed directly on the skin at the acupuncture point and then lit, creating a gentle warming sensation
Gua SHa
Guasha is a therapy where a smooth tool is used to gently scrape the skin. This scraping helps to improve blood flow and relax muscles. It's like a gentle massage that can relieve tension and promote relaxation.
CUPPING
Cupping involves placing special cups on your skin and using suction to create a vacuum effect. This suction pulls your skin upward into the cup, which can feel like a gentle pulling or stretching sensation. The cups are usually left in place for a few minutes while they work to increase blood flow, relax muscles, and promote healing.
There are different types of cupping, including stationary cupping, where the cups are left in one place, and moving cupping, where the cups are moved around on the skin. Cupping is often used to help relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and improve circulation. It's safe and generally painless, although it can sometimes leave temporary marks on the skin that look like bruises.
Electro Acupuncture
Electrical stimulation in acupuncture is like adding a little extra boost to the treatment. After the needles are inserted into specific points on your body, small clamps are attached to the needle. a small electrical current is applied to these needles, creating a gentle, pulsating sensation. This can help to make the treatment more effective. This method is often used to help relieve pain, reduce muscle tension, and promote relaxation
